“Listen! I am standing at the door, knocking; if you hear my voice and open the door, I will come in to you and eat with you, and you with me.” Revelation 3:20
Jesus is knocking. Answer the door and join Opportunity Palestine for our #AdventCountdown.
We’ll be telling the stories of the ELCJHL schools—stories of students, teachers, and staff doing God's work in the Holy Land. Follow us for daily Scripture on our Facebook page.
Ali’s Success Story
Ali is currently a 1st grader here at Dar Al-Kalima School (DAKS). He is a wonderful student and is is adored by his teachers and by other students. Ali was born with a disability that causes him to have difficulty seeing, hearing, and walking. Daily tasks including reading, writing, communication, and climbing stairs can be more challenging. Last year, all of his classes were on the first floor of the school.
This year, the 1st grade classroom is on the second floor of the school. While the stairs presented a challenge for Ali, he is confidently climbing the stairs everyday with encouragement from his teachers and fellow students. Ali is very involved in the life of the school. He loves German class and hanging out with his friends. Ali is also involved with swimming, and hopes to join table tennis when he gets older. Ali hopes to continue school at DAK until he graduates after the 12th grade.
At Dar Al-Kalima School, where I serve as principal, we celebrate Jesus’ love for us through our daily devotions. We want students to know that Jesus’ most important value and our school’s most important value is love. Jesus knocks on our door because he loves us. Just like how God called Paul, and he answered, we can answer the door to see how we can further grow in relationship and understanding with Jesus.
"Dear Jesus, thank you for knocking on our doors and bringing us hope, peace, and comfort. It’s because of your grace and love that we can open the door and share your light with others. Thank you for taking our hands and walking and leading us through your life. It’s in your holy name that we pray. Amen."

Featuring high school students speaking in their own voice, the outcomes of the Lutheran Schools in the Holy Land are shared. The 4 schools start with preschool and continue to Grade 12 with co-educational classrooms and curriculum designed to support inquiry, creativity, leadership with inter-faith dialog, and peace resolution.
